How to Save Yourself Real hearache

To: You - A Legacy Video Scrapbook Maker

From: Gene

Re: How to avoid a heartbreaking moment

Dear Friend,

Several years ago I attended a good friend's funeral. His mother had passed away and...well...funerals are not happy events. I had known my friend for many years and had never known him to be overly emotional about much of anything. But this time I was surprised - he took me aside at the gravesite under the gray, rainy Pennsylvania sky and said something to me that changed how I would look at creating a Legacy video...forever.

He said, "Y'know, other than a trinket or two and a few snapshots, I have nothing of the essence of my mother to remember her buy." No, he wasn't crying but even this revelation struck me hard. His mother whom he had known for over 60 years would fade into history with little left for either he or following generations to cling to.

No one would see the light in her eyes when remembering her history, no one would hear her voice swell with pride when remembering her children, no one would see the real person behind those few remaining snapshots. An absolutely avoidable tragedy.

I vowed at that moment to use my lifetime of professional video production experience to teach people that creating a Legacy keepsake video is not difficult. My wife Pam contributed huge amounts of hints from her work as a Psychologist. We worked hard and made it all happen and it isn't a 30 minute project but what thing that is really worthwhile doesn't take some time and effort?

What do you get out of a bit of planning and a couple of really interesting family sessions?

...You get a video legacy keepsake which lets your mom or dad or whomever you record pass their memories along to the kids yet unborn in your family....You get your loved one's essence on video so you have more than just a few snapshots and a couple of trinkets to remember....You get the whole family tightly involved creating what will become their most precious heirloom....You get to show your loved one that their story matters - that you and the family want them to be remembered for decades....You get to keep some small particle of their essence to help you get over your own grief when they pass on.

You fill in the rest.
